ZIVO

Zivo (born in 1950) is a Belgian/Polish painter and sculptor, he can best be described as a discoverer and creator. It is not his goal to be famous nor to be in the spotlights, Zivo is an observer. His main source of inspiration are animals and amongst all animals, elephants are his favourites. Zivo has been fascinated by the elephant for over 20 years and you can feel the love for the animal throughout his artworks. The source for his first work of an elephant came from the remains of the Moeritherium; the ancestor of the elephant known today. The remains were found in 1871 by the German explorer Georg Schweinfurth in Africa. The story behind the evolution of the elephant made Zivo create his wonderful elephant paintings and sculptures. While creating, Zivo loves to work with different materials, whether he uses sand, paper, oils, soil or pigments, he keeps surprising. Another aspect which is important to him while creating is light. He always searches for the best position of his work in relation to the light to place the different materials perfectly.
