The source for his work of an elephant came from the remains of the Moeritherium; the ancestor of the elephant known today. The remains were found in 1871 by the German explorer Georg Schweinfurth in Africa. The story behind the evolution of the elephant made Zivo create his wonderful elephant sculpture.
